No More Diapers

No more diapers for Andrew! He is now sleeping in underwear. This happened on his time. We noticed he had a dry pull up on for a week, then we did a pull up over the underwear and that was dry for a week too! Now it is has been another week and Andrew has woken up to use the restroom. We could not be more proud of him.

We are only buying pull ups at the Munton House - No more diapers - what a milestone!!!

Being Silly

One of the many hopes I have as a mom is that my boys grow up loving life and are the happiest children. I think we are off to a great start. These two are so silly and make us laugh daily.

Sunday Funday

Last weekend we went to the USM basketball game. The boys love basketball and have such a great time going to games.

oh these boys!!!

Spring 2013 SOCCER!!

Soccer has started again for Andrew. Owen is the soccer commissioner for U6 and U4. He is also Andrew's coach. Andrew is excited about it this time around. On Saturday the first thing he said was "is it soccer". I love that is he is excited and I know Owen loves it too. Owen was really good at soccer as a child and played varsity high school soccer.

Our teammates this season are: Graham Leathers, Margot Maksi, Tyler Lowery, Elizabeth Cullop, Vivvie TenEyct & Andrew! This season they all wanted to be out on the field. Andrew did great running with the ball but he didn't kick it much. He also wanted to be the coach a lot.

We are team Toyota again. Aha and Mick came out to watch the game as well. We all had a great time.

Sam's 3rd new tooth

The right tooth was broken badly. It had a fracture on the back as well so the crown is not sticking. We have lost 2 crowns and went this morning for the 3rd crown. If this one falls out, the dentist will remove his teeth.

That is bad news but it gets worse. We have to take beck away. Beck is Sam's blanket that he sleeps with, he loves it, and it is his comfort. I cried in the car for 10 minutes about this. Sam cried all the way to school because he heard the dentist say he needs to not have it. The reason is it is a tag blanket and he sucks on the tags. The sucking is not the reason the crowns are falling out, but it is not helping the situation.

So...when I pick up the boys I am going to get Andrew first. Talk to Andrew about Sam not having beck and that we are going to replace beck with a new stuffed animal that is soft but that can not be sucked. Out with the old and in with the new - sort to speak. I pray this works. Sam is the BEST sleeper b/c he has the comfort of his beck. Getting rid of it is causing a lot of unknowns for me and my anxiety level is pretty high.

Here is Sam as happy as can be waiting for the dentist. He did not handle this crown as well as he did on Monday. He fussed and fought the whole time. This week has broken my heart so many times.

New Teeth for Sam

Last Thursday we had Amanda and her girls over for our weekly play date. The kids were shy to get started and then they all ended up in Andrew's room. The moment I thought we needed to go check on them it was too late. Sam fell and hit his front teeth on Andrew's foot board. It is wrought iron. His cry wasn't even a scary one. I didn't even see the blood at first. I was looking at his head and face for a bump or bruise and then I saw it. Black blood in his mouth. I ran to get a towel to soak it up and put ice on it and then I saw more...his right front tooth in half. My heart sank to my stomach. I immediately texted Courtney who is married to our dentist with this picture.

She sent it to her husband who told us to meet him at 6:15 and he would look at it. So we did and the nerve was exposed on the right tooth and the left one was chipped. Sam did not act like he was in pain. He ate dinner and slept all night. The next morning we went to the Wesley Medical Center's outpatient surgery center so they could put a crown on both teeth. I am in disbelief and in crisis mode.

Luckily, Sam likes to say "cheese" so we were able to get good pictures. There were 3 other babies in front of us - b/c we were not scheduled to be there - they worked us in, thank goodness!!

Trying to pass the time by taking pictures with Daddy and Mommy!

Being silly once the medicine started to work.

This whole ordeal has been a struggle for me! Seeing my baby hurt is the worst feeling and my heart has been sad since it happened. Once Dr. Middleton put the crowns on and Sam was in recovery he told us that both teeth had nerve damage. The right tooth was the worst and it was fractured on the back as well. Sam tolerated the anesthesia well and that was a relief!!

He took a nap once we got home and woke up very hungry!!

A few more snuggles with mom! He is such a sweet baby boy! We are so lucky to have him but I am redirecting my prayers for this child. My prayer is for him to think before acting!!!

On Saturday night his right crown fell off. We can't find it so assumed he swallowed it. My heart saddened again!!

A picture Sunday morning! He did not seem phased by any of this. He did not like the doctors or nurses but the pain part did not seem to bother him. He was his sweet and fun self all day on Sunday. We went this morning to put a new crown on the right tooth. I am praying it sticks. The dentist thinks they bumped it when removing his breathing tube.

That is a recap of our weekend! My parents came to visit and to check on Sam. So that was fun and we always love when they visit. Again, Owen and I are both so sad about this but are blessed to have great friends and family and a sweet boy and that makes the stress easier to handle.

Bed Time change for Sam

Sam has gone to sleep with milk since the day he was born. He would not take it with him into this bed but while we read stories he would drink milk. Even for nap time. This was apart of his routine. It bothered me a little because we would brush his teeth and then give him milk. But it didn't bother me enough to try to stop it. Sam is really good at refusing a new change unless it is his idea. So this is one area I did not want to fight.

The other day he asked for water for dinner. He usually drinks milk and then the milk he did not finish at dinner was what I brought with him to his room for bed time. On the night of water at dinner, I did the same thing. I brought his water cup and he did not even miss the milk! This has happened for a week now so I feel like it is ok to mention it :)

He is growing up too fast. It makes me sad and happy at the same time.

Sam's 2nd birthday party

This year we decided to wait a month for Sam's birthday party. I am not sure I loved having his party after his actual birthday but I think that is what we will have to do. He had so many of friends there and that is the main reason I wanted to move it.

Sam loves Mickey Mouse. He does not watch alot of tv - Andrew pretty much controls the remote in our house. But Sam does love Mickey. He gets really excited when he sees Mickey so I knew a Mickey Mouse party would be the perfect theme for our little 2 year old.

I am going to let the pictures tell the story!! It's one I want to remember always. I would not change a thing!!!

The party is going to be one of my favorite memories. Sam knew the party was for him. He played with his friends, he played with the library toys, and just loved the attention!!!
