2014 Recap

This will be last post for 2014. Even though it is now 2015...almost February too. Time definitely moves fast. The boys are getting so big. I have said that so many times since their births, but now it is different. Andrew is a smart boy who is changing by the day. His thoughts and questions are ones he truly thinks about. He has feelings and things make him happy and sad in a new way now. We have real conversations about school and friends and his feelings. Yes, half the time I am not sure he knows what he is talking about, but he is so confident in his words that it is interesting. Bed time for him is different now. We still read two books and all of that but saying good night is a little sweeter now with him for some reason. I can't pin point it, but it is one of my favorite moments of the day.

2014 was hard for me personally. Owen changed jobs and that brought some excitement and stress as he said good bye to Magnolia State Bank. 2014 just seemed to be difficult. Nothing really came easy - not that life is easy, but in my head and in my bubble of life it was hard. I am still worn out from 2014. It had such promise and I guess it did live up to that with Owen getting a new job. This new job is going to be good for him and our family. But the heart ache of last year is still vivid for me.

Samuel is proving to be a hard child to parent. He drains me on a daily basis. He is sweet and his cuddles are the best. But he says no to everything. Nothing motivates him. He chooses not to listen 90% of the time. And I have given into him since he was an infant so now that I know he is old enough to understand me and now that I am trying to old firm with him - it is hard. I walk away so many times with him because I don't know what to do. He is much more independent than Andrew. Samuel wants to do everything himself. Which will be great in the long run but now in the here and now - it can be frustrating. But it is not all hard. He is so loving. He is the best cheerleader. He will give you so much encouragement. I love him so much.

I am glad that a new year is here. I pray everyday that happiness is filled in our life. But there is sadness all around us. In the boys prayers at night and in my own prayer - we pray for health and happiness for our friends and family. As people we know are facing very difficult health situations those words mean more to me than ever.

Again...glad to see 2014 in the past and hope for good things in 2015.

More Christmas Pictures 2014

Christmas Morning!

Proof of two sick little boys over the Christmas break

My parents gave Owen this handy tool carrying kit. He used it to hang his new pictures on the wall.

grumpy Captain America - coat was a present from Aha and Mick

Sam received a superman jacket

Christmas with the Cousins

Uncle Nathan and his family came from North Carolina to visit. Abby and Eric came too. Cousin Connie and her family hosted all of us for one more family Christmas. We had more presents and fun!! The boys love spending time with the cousins. Connie lives on a huge piece of land and the kids can run and play with ease. It is even relaxing for Owen and me.

It was a fun time...but when we left that afternoon we took Owen to the after care clinic - he caught the strep throat!!!  A few days later I got it! Holiday 2014 was a little sickly for this Munton crew.

Christmas Morning 2015

Christmas Morning was everything the boys hoped for - SANTA CAME!!! and he ate the cookies and the reindeer ate the carrots. All was right in the world.

Santa brought the boys three "big" gifts and lots of little things. The most loved here the Paw Patrol puppies. Those are still a favorite today (January 29th).

Sam was given a battleship and a play house and one other thing that I can't remember. Andrew's big gifts were a leapster and video game, Spot the zuppie dog and an octonauts octopad.

My parents were here for Christmas morning and we had the traditional egg and sausage casserole with grits.

The boys gave me the sweetest gift ever. Owen took them shopping and they both wanted to get me something with a cross. The got me a cross necklace and I love it. I wear it to church and it makes the boys so happy.

Andrew and Sam gave Owen framed pictures of themselves for our picture wall. It has been awhile since we updated it so Owen loved it.

After a morning of playing we went to Aha's and Micks for lunch. Andrew seemed off a bit and later we found out both boys had strep throat. Neither of them seemed content and they didn't sleep well during the holiday. But we still had a fun time.

Sacred Heart Christmas Concert

I am out of order on my Christmas events. Sacred Heart had a Christmas concert on December 18th. It was so cute. Andrew would sing some of the songs for us before the concert. My favorite was "Angels among us"

During the concert, Andrew asked the music teacher Mrs. Drinkwater if he could leave the stage. We had no idea what he was doing. Turns out he needed to go to the bathroom. It was amusing.

It was a full circle night for the Muntons. Sacred Heart purchased their old church a couple of years ago. To see their old church full of little kids and parents was heart warming for them. I am glad that Andrew and Sam will grow up in a building that their dad grew up in. It is pretty special.

M&M Christmas Party

After all our fun errands with Andrew in his Christmas PJs :) We went to M&M to celebrate Christmas with Sam's class. It was fun and his face was so happy to see us. He wears his emotions in the facial expressions.

Sam loved having his brother there too. He loves Andrew and calls him his best friend. Makes this momma very happy. Sam loves everything about Christmas. The excitement, the time off of school and the toys :) He is a treasure.

Sacred Heart Christmas Party

Andrew's class had their Christmas Party and last day of school on December 19th. The parents brought lunch and snacks for the fun. The kids wore their Christmas pajamas. It was a fun day.

Sam turns 3

Sam had a month long of birthday celebrations. He loved it. I think he knew it was his time to shine.
Monday before Christmas, I brought cake to his school so his friends could sing to him. Sam's face lite up with happiness that I was there.

One his actual birthday he requested pancakes. My parents were here too and that was fun. His big present was Disney and all that came with Disney. So on his birthday he got a Dr. Seuss puzzle and a power ranger toy from Andrew.

Later that day we went to the Christmas Eve mass at Sacred Heart. Aha and Mick joined us too. We came home to Sam's traditional Red Beans and Rice dinner. He didn't eat much of it this year. But he was also showing signs of being sick.

During the Christmas Eve Mass Santa Claus comes into the church to give baby Jesus a birthday present. The whole church sings Happy Birthday. Sam's face was so happy. He just knew the birthday song was for him. It was priceless.
