First Lady and Play Time

Yesterday was a good day. A day I will always remember. A day I have no pictures to show my kids or grandkids...but I have the story!

Yesterday some friends of mine, my mother in law, and I went to lunch with First Lady Laura Bush. She did not sit at our table and there were 500 other ladies there eating lunch with her too...but those are small details. I had lunch with Laura Bush and she spoke to us for 30 minutes. It was amazing, insightful, and American. My mother in law and I left feeling so good about ourselves. We wanted to say inspired but that didn't really capture the feeling. It was just a warm feeling of happiness. Laura Bush is classy, funny and a great speaker.

I did not take any pictures b/c there were police officers and secret service people all around us. I didn't want my good day ruined by me being carried way for taking a cell phone picture. I opted to be classy myself and just lock away the memory in my mind forever.

While I was out being a lady who lunched (hehehe) my sweet son was having a good day too. Here are some pictures his teacher took yesterday during playtime.

Yes, it was a very good day.

Easter at the Beach

This year we went to the beach with the Munton's. It was nice because Owen's brother and sister were able to come as well. We played by the pool all day Friday and relaxed and went to LuLu's for lunch on Saturday. Sunday we were visited by the Easter bunny, went to church and had a great Sunday lunch at one of our favorite restaurants. It was a really good holiday. Easter is probably one of my favorite holidays b/c the meaning behind it is so raw and pure. I feel humbled every year and it renews me.

Here are some pictures of Andrew and his cousins - Nate and Wil!

Andrew had another Easter Egg Hunt at his daycare. They hunted for eggs, had a great snack and dyed Easter Eggs!

Hope you all had a Happy Easter as well.

Mommy and Me Easter Egg Hunt

Yesterday was the Mommy and Me Easter Egg Hunt. Last year Andrew laid on a blanket the whole time. This year he thought the eggs were shakers and just wanted to shake them. He had no interest in finding eggs...he was happy with the two or three that he had. After the egg hunt we had snacks...and then my sweet boy perked up and was ready to party. He was in the kitchen "helping" or surveying the goodies while the mommies set up the food. Even after I got his plate, I had to go back to the kitchen to tell him we had food. It was really funny.

Here is our morning in pictures...

WHOA! Look what I have!!

It was a fun morning to say the least!

Poor Hubby

Owen had an ingrown toe nail cut out yesterday. This was much more of a procedure than we thought it would be. It was actually surgery!!! And he would not have scheduled this before beach time. Now Owen can't play in the sand with us and probably not even in the pool this weekend :( But that is minor compared to the pain he is in. I am hoping the swelling and bruising will go down soon. He has a follow up appointment next Thursday.

Surprise!

Saturday my parents surprised us with an impromptu visit. I love those. It was a great weekend for it too. We had nothing major planned. Downtown was having an art walk and we were going out to eat afterwards. Having my parents in town made the weekend all that more special. I am so glad they live close enough to drive over for a quick visit. They tagged us, so now it is our turn to figure out a weekend to go visit them.

Here is a picture of my parents, me and Andrew before they left on Sunday.

Hat

Tuesday was a funny morning. Andrew gets very eager to go outside and explore for a second before getting in the car for day care. This morning he pointed out his hat and Owen helped him put it on. Well...it was not coming off. Andrew's excitement for the day doubled. We couldn't get the back door open fast enough. Then he "ran" to the car where his car seat is and looked at us like, "aren't you coming?". I loaded him up, hat still on and we headed to school. He was so proud of his hat at school. He had a pep in his step. We have never seen Andrew so determined about anything. It was the funniest scene!

Here is a picture of Andrew and his hat at school. His teachers said he wore it for half a day.

1st time in a Jump Jump

Andrew went to a birthday party for a friend of ours whose daughter turned 2. She had a Dora the Explorer party and there was a jump jump. Andrew knew exactly what to do and I was a nervous wreck. You wouldn't think a 16 month old and 24 month old would be that different, but they are. Andrew held is own and had a fabulous time.

This picture isn't the greatest, but I like it.

Do you see Dora watching the kids jump?

Andrew has changed so much from 12 months to now and seeing these two year old kids makes me realize that he will be changing even faster in the next 8 months or so...This momma is not ready for him to be so "grown up"...but in the same breath I am looking forward to it (maybe). :)

Fun weekend

Andrew discovered the art of playing with the garden hose this weekend. Owen washed my car on Saturday and Andrew and I watched and played in the water. Andrew loved it! He did not care that the water was cold. He was just so intrigued with the whole concept of water coming out of the hose. Precious day!!!

Hard day at "school"

When I picked Andrew up from school yesterday this is what he was wearing...

Yep...hard day at school. He went through his first shirt, so he has on his "change of clothes" shirt. Then he spilled water all down his pants so they took his pants off and I didn't have an extra pair of pants for him...rough day! He is also not too happy in this picture b/c his legs were stuck in between sticks! Being the good mom I am...I decided to get a picture instead of helping him right away...:) But now I am glad I have documentation of a funny afternoon.

Andrew is getting so tall...he can now reach for the door knobs...Our life is changing right before our eyes. Yesterday when we were leaving in the morning, Andrew was in our bedroom. I called for him to come into the kitchen. Owen looked at me and said, "did you ever think we would be calling him to walk into the kitchen by himself?" Actually...no, I never thought about it - but in reality things are changing too fast.

16 Months

Andrew is 16 months old! I have a 16 month old! Again I am shocked this month that my baby is a toddler. He is so fun to be around. I crave spending time with him. He is such a joy.

His vocabulary is really taking off. New words this month are door, outside, apple, hot, hat, and oh no. There maybe more, but I can't think of them right now.

He can give kisses now and does so when you ask him to.

He recognizes objects and can point to items when you ask him to.

Luckily, he still has a great appetite. I feel so blessed in this department.

Andrew impresses me on a daily basis. People told me this would be the best stage of him growing up and I didn't understand it. I thought the newborn stage was the best...but I am loving this one too. I am so happy and thankful he is in our life.

Andrew's Favorite

Andrew and Brantley went to Mommy and Me today. We picked up Brantley for our Monday morning date. I really have future visions when I pick her up that one day (before I know it)I will be picking up a date of Andrew's for junior prom. I know that sounds silly; but these are thoughts that go through my head. Andrew was so funny today in the car. He was doing all of his sounds that he finds to be very funny so that Brantley would laugh. She just looked at him while Andrew giggled and giggled. He was really cracking himself up. Then on the way home Andrew fell fast asleep and Brantley was so confused by the napping. Her face was priceless!!! If I wasn't driving I would have taken a picture.

Here is a video of Andrew today enjoying his favorite part of the class!
