Keeping my day job

I thought it would be a good idea to "pretend" I could take good pictures and have a photo shoot with Andrew. I wanted to get a good shot so Owen could put a picture in his office. What I learned during this experience is that I am not a photographer and there is a reason they cost so much money. Here are some of my favorites.

Ralphie wanted to be in the action as well. Here is a picture of him inches away from Andrew.

1st outfit

When I found out Andrew was a boy, I bought him this outfit. I really wanted something monogrammed and thought this polo onsie was perfect. I got it in a 6 month size. This weekend I pulled it out to look at it and realized that my sweet 7 week old could probably wear it now. It is a little big on him, but when he stretches out, it is the perfect size for him. Here is a picture of him in his first outfit I bought him.

The advertisement photo of the outfit...I couldn't resist at the time b/c of the cute blond headed baby and golden retriever puppy

Routines

As I have mentioned earlier I am dealing with the worst countdown ever. The countdown is how many days I have left until I have to go back to work. Right now it is 2 weeks away. So this brings my planner self to a whole new of level of getting Andrew and me into some sort of routine. I am re-reading the Baby Wise book to help me get focused. Our feedings are going well. Thankfully he is a good eater, but sleeping for a full night is another story. He is changing every day and one change is he is not utilizing his nights as well as I know he can. He is a great napper so I know we can get him to a night routine. We have a bassinet that he has been using and is quickly outgrowing it.

Here is a current picture of him in his bassinet...

As you can see he is touching the sides of the bassinet and doesn't have much room to grow anymore. Last night we put him in his crib for the first time. This didn't go as well as I had hoped. We will try again tonight. I haven't started a bed time routine. I guess I think he is too young for story time, but I read today in Baby Wise that I actually do need to start a bed time routine which includes reading a book. I am going to try that today. There are so many things to do and to try...I get overwhelmed at times. If I wasn't going back to work, I think I wouldn't be in a rush to get into a routine. I am actually more relaxed than I thought I would be. As long as our eating is on schedule the rest of the day just falls into place for me. But since I do have to go back to work I need to get a night time routine so our life is balanced.

Best Friends in the making

My two favorite baby boys! I can tell they are going to be best friends.

Ralphie is 2!!!

I am ashamed to admit that I am bragging about my sweet baby boy pup almost a month after his birthday. Ralphie turned 2 on Dec 31st. A couple of weeks later he went to Diva Dog for a birthday spa. They kept Ralphie for 2 1/2 hours. Here are some pictures of his after spa glow.

He is such a sweet puppy and he is amazing with Andrew. I have been amazed at how well he has adjusted to our new normal.

Out with the old and hopefully in with the new

I now know what people mean when they say your body is not the same after you have a baby. I am back to my pre-baby weight (not that I was happy with that weight, but I am back to it) however my clothes don't fit the same. This past Saturday I wore pants that zipped and buttoned for the first time since probably my 4th or 5th month of pregnancy. What can I say...I love jump suit/work out outfits (and I realize I don't work out...so I am most likely being a poser by wearing them, but they are comfortable and I feel somewhat put together when I go out in public). Back to the story at hand...since my clothes don't fit I went through my closet and gave 4 big black garbage bags of clothes away to goodwill. I am proud of myself b/c I was not in denial this time when going through my closet. Usually I do this and tell myself that one day I will fit back into most of the clothes in my closet. Well not this time. In fact, my taste in clothes have changed as well. That is probably why I was so motivated to get rid of so much. Some of the clothes I have had since college. So it was time to say good bye. But the good news (and the hopeful part) is I need new clothes which means shopping. The tricky part about that is it is hard to drop what I am doing to go shopping. Even weekends aren't that easy to find time for myself to shop. Oh well...this just means I can daydream about cute clothes and in my dreams I am a lot skinner and everything looks amazing on me! HA!!

blogging challenged

As you can see I am trying to put a picture in my blog header. I have tried to do this in the header but my picture is huge and it doesn't give me the shrink to size option when the picture is uploaded. Can anyone help me?

1 month

Hi! I am one month (ok really almost 5 weeks). Here are two recent pictures of me to say hey and an update to let you know what I have been up to this past month.

I am eating every 2 hours. Mommy is trying to push that to 3 hours. I don't love the pacifier, but will use it occasionally. I prefer sucking on my hands. I am waking up more often and looking around. I recognize Dad's voice when he comes home at night from work. Nights and bed time are unpredictable. Sometimes I like sleeping for 2 to 3 hours before waking up and other times I just want to be up. It really depends on my mood. I love stretching and can hold my head up for a second or two. This impresses my parents. I love to be held. Being held is probably my favorite part of the day.

I had my first play date last week with my mom's best friend's son. He swung in my swing and we took pictures together. I kept hearing how the next time we see each other we will be playing together like old friends. I also got to meet my great-grandmother, aunts, uncle and cousins last week. We have had alot of visitors. I usually sleep through their visits.

I have been having nasal congestion this week. This has worried my parents, but I don't have a fever so my doctor says it just has to run its course. Hopefully everything will be back to normal soon.

I think that is all that has been going on with me this past month.

Love Andrew

What a week...

What a week this past week has been. Forgive me if this post sounds negative...that is not my intention, but geez have we had a week (or longer).

I guess it all started Christmas day (definitely longer than a week ago) when we came home from Owen's parents house. Owen walked in our bedroom and noticed we had a hole in our roof (have i posted about this...I am loosing my mind). Anyways, we have a hole in our bedroom. Luckily the sheetrock guy came today and he will be finished with the patch job on Friday. Then we have to have the painter come and paint our ceiling.

On Sunday (not this past Sunday, but last), Owen went to the after hours clinic for a sinus infection. While there we think he got the flu, because on Thursday he went to his doctor and was diagnosed with the flu! So I called Andrew's pediatrician who told me Owen had to be quarantined until his fever broke. So Owen lived upstairs in our house for 3 days. He couldn't help with Andrew, with household chores, etc...I felt like I was never stopping with trying to keep up with our house and baby and Owen. It was exhausting.

So New Year's Eve comes around. I knew we would have a laid back one, but I didn't realize I would be spending it alone with my baby and with out a husband. Andrew and I went to sleep at 9:35 and woke up again at 1:00 am. So I missed the grand entrance into the New Year. I used to think the way you spent New Year's Eve was the way your year would go. I am happy to think 2010 will be about Andrew and family, but I hope it doesn't mean we will have a sickly 2010.

The week doesn't stop...one day this weekend (Friday, I think) I sat down in the living room to watch a football game and realized our new TV (we have only had it for 45 days) broke. It wouldn't turn on at all. I was then bound to our bedroom so I could watch TV.

Then on Saturday night I notice our sweet Andrew had a hard time sleeping b/c he kept coughing. We got a humidifier for the room in order to help prevent him from getting the flu or a cold and I think the humidifier helped break up some congestion in Andrew and me b/c now we have sinus issues. The good news is neither of us have a fever. Andrew doesn't seem to be bothered - he is still eating, sleeping and using the bathroom so the pediatrician's nurse told me to just let it run its course. Easier said than done, b/c it is so sad to see your almost 5 week old cough or have a stuffy nose.

Andrew has gotten so big. Today I put him in his swing and he actually interacted with the music and toys that hang down. He also doesn't look so small in the swing anymore. It amazes me how he changes every day.

Oh update on TV...when Owen felt better on Sunday he went to exchange the living room TV so we are back to normal.

Well that recaps what has been happening in the Munton household :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
