Andrew Meets the Teacher

Andrew met his teacher on August 6th. I took off half a day and met Andrew and our carpool buddies for lunch. Then he headed to Sacred Heart. And luckily all of his friends are in the same class. I was shocked and so grateful!!! Andrew has Mrs. Villarreal and Mrs. Nicovich. They are both sweet and love what they do.

The pictures show the excitement of Andrew and his friends.

I have said it many times, but I am really excited to see these friendships grow and to see Andrew develop and learn at Sacred Heart. My heart is so very full :)

Selma Visit

The boys had July 31st off from day care. I took the day off too. I didn't feel like staying home all day so the boys and I headed to Selma for a night. It was so much fun. They were great in the car and perfect at my parent's. When we arrived in Selma they immediately started playing in a baby pool. They had so much fun making "muddy puddles" and enjoying the new things they could discover. It was actually perfect.

Then we all cuddled up in my parents living room that evening and watched the Lego movie. Andrew loved this. We pulled out the sofa sleeper and relaxed while watching the movie. Sam did not last too long. He was fidgeting and would not be quiet. He did not make it through the movie.

On Saturday we went with my mom to the church garage sale. The boys picked out things to pain. Sam picked a ceramic Santa and Andrew picked out an egg. One of my mom's friends gave them both a helicopter which they loved.

End of July Pictures

I am trying to make sure I write down everything we have been doing to keep the best possible baby book for Andrew and Sam.

Here are some pictures that we took in July.

We took the boys to the aquarium in New Orleans one weekend.  The boys enjoyed it but as we were leaving Sam looked very pale and ended up throwing up in the car on our way home. So that was not good at all.

They each picked a toy from the gift shop. Andrew picked an alligator hunter boat with a man and an alligator. Sam picked a clown fish stuffed animal. It was the first thing he saw. Andrew had to look around the store three times before he decided.

Ralphie destroyed his room one day. For no apparent reason!

Andrew loves dinosaurs

Andrew likes to dress Ralphie up and it makes me laugh when Ralphie lets him!

Dad took the boys to school while I volunteered at an over night camp
These two keep up laughing for sure!!

Andrew's Bed Time Routine

Andrew is growing into such a little boy. He is wanting to take showers now. He is staying up later now. He puts on his on pjs at night. These are little things for sure, but it is such a progression that he is getting older. I love that he can do these things...but I think I will always miss the infant.

Andrew goes to sleep around 7:30 or 8 pm. He watches a show on apple tv as he winds down. Then Owen and he go brush his teeth. I get his room ready while they do that. Turn on the sound machine, music and get his socks. He needs socks to sleep and 4 blankets.

We read 2 books and tell a story. Then we say the prayer and sing. We sometimes do these things in his bed or in his rocking chair. It changes by the day.

Andrew also likes 10-15 animals in his bed at all times. He still LOVES stuffed animals. He truly loves on them.

One night, I heard him asking for me and when I went to check on him - this is what I found...

He asked me to take a picture. He had all of animals circled around him. And he slept like this. More the merrier is Andrew's motto.

Sam's Bedtime Routine

Sam is a pretty easy child to put to sleep...but he has his quirks. We read 3 books. Say the prayer (and pray for a lot of people...everyone he can think of). Sing a song or two. Then I put him in his bed. The quirky part is, he wants his lamp on and a toy or a book in bed with him. He plays quietly and I think is asleep in 10 minutes (sometimes longer).

When Owen and I get ready for bed, we go in and turn off his light. We love seeing what position Sam is sleeping in. One night we found Sam like this...

In mid reading he fell asleep. He also does not like a cover and does not like to wear socks to sleep. But he does need a few of his favorite stuffed animals.

Last night Owen and I went to Sacred Heart's new parent orientation. Sam's teacher Elizabeth came over to babysit. She put Sam to sleep for us (which he did not like...he is a mama only for bed time).

At 1 am I heard him on the monitor asking for me. I hoped he was just rolling around so didn't get out of bed. Then I heard his footsteps coming to our room. Sam looked around our dresser...saw that we were there and went back to his room. He then turned on his lamp and crawled back into bed. He stayed there until I went in to get him this morning.

Another routine of Sam's is to come and get me in the morning. Anytime between 5 and 5:40 am. For him to stay in his room until I got him...was different.

Sam still wakes me up once a night. I can't tell if he is hungry or if he tee tees and that wakes him up. If it is extremely early morning (1 am or 3 am) I can usually put him back to sleep pretty easily. But if it is 5 am...then we are up for the day.

Sam's 1st hair cut

I love Sam's hair. It is curly and only curly. It is wild. It is beautiful. I love it.

But the day came - July 10, 2014 - for Sam to get a hair cut. This was a little different that Andrew's first hair cut. Andrew had curls at the end of his hair and I didn't want to cut those...but eventually had to and he has a boy hair cut.

But Sam...I knew it would be a trim and no curl would fall off. He needed it out of his eyes and off his neck.

Sam knew we were going. He has seen Andrew get his hair cut many times. But when we got there the silent tears fell and fell. He was terrified. Clinging to my neck. Telling me no. Loving on me to get me to take him out of the salon.

I promised him a toy if he did not cry while she cut his hair. Luckily, Megan (the hair stylist) was smart. She let him sit on my lap. He did so good. No tears at all and even got a sucker.

Here is the before picture...no after picture, because it basically looks the same...just cleaned up a little.

Since he pulled it together and was a great sport about getting his hair cut, I took the boys to Walmart. Sam really wanted a green power ranger and Andrew picked a dinosaur transformer. It was a fun afternoon.
