YAY for Christmas Time

I love decorating the house for Christmas. I think our house looks so much better with all the decorations. I thought I would post some pictures of our tree, table and the Nativity scene my mom made for us. My parents are coming for Christmas this year and we will go to the children's mass at Sacred Heart on Christmas Eve. Owen's family will go with us as well. After mass we are going to have Christmas Eve dinner at our house. I am cooking a Mexican feast - Feliz Natividad!!

Our Christmas...I went to a wrapping class this year and must say my bows look very professional :)

Snow Day

I am amazed at how things work out sometimes. Last week I was dragging...not sure why, but I could not get motivated. I really needed the weekend to come so I could recharge and keep going, this thought came on a Tuesday. Wednesday morning the weather man told us it was going to snow on Thursday. I did not believe him. Then on Thursday I woke up at 6 am and got ready to go the gym. When I got out of the garage I realized it was snowing. It was so pretty. At the gym my trainer and the other trainers were hoping their places of work would give them a snow day. Now that I don't work at a university anymore I told them my chances of a snow day do not exist. An hour and half later, I got in my car and had a voice mail from my boss. He called to tell me we were having a SNOW DAY!!! The girl who did not believe and who needed a day off got her wish!!! Christmas came early for me. So I took the day to be very productive and got most of my Christmas shopping done, and wrapped the presents and put them under the tree, and I finished decorating the house. Luckily it was not a snow day for retailers :)

After shopping I went home to play with Ralphie. He loved the snow. It was a holiday for him too because he got to play all afternoon.

I still can't believe it snowed. That makes two snow days in one year. We started out the year with a snow day in January and we ended the year with one as well.

completed 1st week

Well my 1st full week of training is complete. My legs are feeling normal today. Luckily Amanda and I did not do legs yesterday. We did arms...and now those hurt...however not has bad as the legs hurt. Anyways just wanted to give an update. I can't stop thinking this is a good move for me. I need to incorporate more cardio...but honestly I don't like it!

I am looking forward to tomorrow. Owen and I are going to Jackson to look at accent chairs. My parents are coming for Christmas and we need one more chair in our living room to seat everyone comfortably. We are also going to decorate our house for the holidays. This is going to be a good weekend!!

1st day of training

Yesterday was my 1st day with my personal trainer Amanda. She is great! I had not met her until yesterday. She worked me hard though. We immediately started with lunges and did not stop for one hour. I am so sore. She said I would be; I knew I would be. Sitting down or getting up is such a chore. I can barely put on my make-up or put socks on my feet. She said I was not in too bad of shape and that I should see results quickly. That was comforting to hear. Owen and I are going to walk/run (really jog) tonight with Ralphie to help loosen up the muscles. Owen suggested I take some Advil for the pain...that did not even cross my mind. I just took it...so hopefully it will help elevate some of the soreness. I am also keeping a daily journal of my meals and when I eat. Amanda's husband is a nutritionist so they will help me get on track there as well. I feel like this is such a positive move for not only me, but Owen too. Sometimes we can get so comfortable with a certain lifestyle that is hard to change it. I think working out with Amanda will help motivate me. She is so fit but she was not always fit. She started out like I am, which I like b/c she understands where I am coming from. With all that said, I have no idea how tomorrow's work out is going to go, because I am so sore now...

Personal Trainer

Turkey day has come and gone (Happy Thanksgiving by the way). With the over eating of the holiday I am very excited that tomorrow is my 1st day with my new personal trainer. I have not met her yet, but I do know she trains people who compete in physical fitness (muscle competitions). That is not my goal...my goal is to tone & loose this "I've been married a year now and must be very happy weight". I have been trying to work out and lift weights on my own, but it is not working. I definitely do not push myself enough and I can come up with any excuse to not work out. This new approach I feel will be very beneficial. She does not do cardio with me, only weights. I will have to do cardio on my own. I am stepping out on a huge limb with this one, because I have committed to work out at 6:30 in the morning which means I have to take a shower at the gym. I don't like doing that...but if this is what it takes to be able to look into a mirror and actually recognize myself - I will do it. At lunch today I went to target and got a travel hairdryer and a "train case" to put my travel size shampoo, conditioner and soap in. I am ready for tomorrow. I know I am going to be sore and it will be hard work...but I feel so confident that I will notice a difference much sooner than if I did this on my own. Well actually to be realistic working out would not get done if I had to depend solely on me. :) I will keep you updated!!
