Old Wives Tale

A co-worker of mine has an old wives tale to predict gender of an unborn baby. She ties a string with a needle and depending on how the needle sways is the prediction for a girl or a boy. She did this with Andrew and was 100% correct. So today she did it again and the needle swayed in a circle which means GIRL! Maybe she will be 2 for 2...we find out at our ultrasound appointment next Friday. Of course in my heart of hearts I don't care. It is fun to play a game about it. I just pray for baby to be healthy with a strong heart beat.

2 things I want to remember

Two significant things happened today that I want to remember...

1. This morning Andrew was sitting on my lap. He started to rub my stomach and said "baby". I am amazed every day at the things he understands and remembers. My heart melted this morning.

2. Owen drove by the new house today and there is a sold sign up! I got so excited when he called to tell me. We are so close to moving (in 3 days) and I am looking forward to the rearranging of pictures, decorating new rooms, and making this house our new home.

This has been a very good week.

Happy Birthday Owen

This past Friday was Owen's birthday. We got a babysitter - Ms. Emily from his day care. Andrew was getting a little fussy and then Ms. Emily showed up and he thought that was the best plan ever. He lit up and was so happy to see her. So Owen and I left with no tears. I had planned for us to go to dinner to an Italian restaurant b/c Owen really likes their desserts. Well the wait was 45 minutes so we decided to go with plan b and eat at a steak restaurant. After dinner we planned to go to the movies...but when we got there our movie was sold out! I completely bombed on the birthday planning this year. So Owen and I went to to plan b again & went to Home Depot to look at a refrigerator we are planning to get for the new home. Our 2nd stop of the night was to target to get milk :). And last but not least we went to Cold Stone Creamery to get a birthday ice cream treat.

It was a fun date (even though as I type it, I feel like we are very lame people) b/c we got to hang out and enjoy a night out, but I am going to have to work on my planning skills for next year!

Sunday we had lunch, cake and ice cream at the Munton's. Abby came into town and hung out with us Saturday as well while we packed. She is also in the moving process so we had a lot of shared stories. All in all it was quite a productive weekend with some fun celebrations.

Pending

We are on the downhill slide of buying a new home. We close this Friday. For the past two weekends we have been packing our house. You just don't realize all of the stuff you have until you have to box it up. Last weekend I went through my wrapping room and threw away things I didn't think I needed and kept things I thought I would use. Well this weekend I just threw away the pile I thought I would use b/c it just looked like trash and didn't want to unpack it. Yes, this is where I am now...I am just ready to move and get settled into the new house. It is a house where our new family of 4 can grow. I in-vision this house being the home my kids remember as their childhood home - meaning we will be in this house when we have grand kids!

I know it is not 100% yet b/c we haven't closed on it but our house is packed up and ready to go. The movers will come on Sunday and Owen and I will move fragile boxes on Saturday.

I love that we are going through this exciting time of life right now...and I am glad this is all working out when I am 4.5 months pregnant instead of 9 months pregnant!

Cute Boy

Thought I would share a cute photo of my little boy. I wanted him to smile but he was being distracting by the Sprout channel. He is getting more and more interested in television.

Relaxing from a fun day at school

Andrew is such a fun little boy. He was extra tired yesterday when he got home from school. He kept laying down on the floor or laying on my leg as I sit on the floor with him. He doesn't do this often so it was nice to cuddle a little with him. Then he got on the chair and laid down with his "ball". I thought he looked so relaxed and comfortable.

Family Picture

My dad just sent me the family picture from this weekend. I wanted to make sure I included it on the blog.

Weekend in Selma

We went to Selma this weekend to visit my parents and Adam. Adam is now home for good - yay! We had a nice time catching up and enjoying each others company. Here are some pictures of Andrew enjoying time outside.

19 Months Old

(what a face he is making...)

My baby boy is 19 months old. WOW! We have a toddler! He is looking more like a little boy to me than a baby. His legs are so long that they hang off the car seat and high chair (not by much...but still, those two things used to make him look so tiny and now they don't).

Some fun facts about Andrew this month are:

* He is starting to put phrases together. His favorite and most understandable is "bye-bye dadda".
* When he sees a star he starts to sing "twinkle, twinkle little star"...the part he sings is "up above the"
* He listens to two children cds in the car and he is now singing to some of the words. This is actually one of my favorite moments with Andrew.
* He can answer yes or no appropriately. This is so great to me b/c we can have little conversations with each other.
* He tells us what he wants to eat for a snack and when he is hungry. He went on an apple bar kick this past month and now has been asking for cheese. When I pick him from school I have chocolate milk with me and the first thing he says when he sees my car is "milk".
* He seems to have a great memory. Owen and I are constantly impressed with what he remembers.
* We have started to use time out and he understand this. Again - I am amazed. Yesterday he was spilling his milk on purpose on of the side tables in the living room. I said Andrew we don't do that you are going to time out. He stopped what he was doing and went to our time out corner and sat down. He stayed there long enough for me to clean up the milk and go get him. I was AMAZED!!! They have to be doing this at school. I meant to ask today when I dropped him off.

He is the sweetest and happiest little boy.

13 weeks

Owen took this picture of me at 13 weeks pregnant (how funny is Ralphie in this picture). I am now 15 1/2 weeks pregnant. We had our monthly visit yesterday and all seemed well. We heard baby's heart beat loud and clear. That always makes me smile and feel extremely happy and blessed. Next month is our ultrasound visit and I can't wait to find out if we are having a little girl or a little boy. We picked out baby names for both. If our baby is a boy he will be Samuel (Sam) Marshall. Samuel is an "old" Rust family name and Marshall is my dad's and brother's middle name. If our baby is a girl she will be Lucy Margaret. Lucy is another "old" Rust family name and Margaret is my middle name. Margaret is also a family name on both sides of my family.

I have felt ok during this pregnancy. I have an enormous appetite and feel hung over 60% of the day. Maybe one day those symptoms will go away. I have forgotten what it feels like to feel "normal". Since I have scar tissue from my c section with Andrew, I feel a lot more movement than I did with Andrew. I don't think I am actually feeling baby, but I can feel things moving around and growing bigger to accommodate baby.

We talk about baby with Andrew. Of course, he does not fully understand but he does know where baby's room will be and he hears me pray for baby at night during bed time.

We are very excited to welcome this little one into our family and become a family of four.
