This past weekend Owen and I attended our church's Spring Fling. All of the money raised went to the church's school. We have gone several years and always have a good time. There is a silent auction, good food and we get to visit with friends we don't see often enough. Owen and I always seem to leave with a good story and this is our story this year:
I am not good at silent auctions. In fact I put silent auctions in the category of Ebay - I really shouldn't go or attempt them. I get too competitive and end up "really needing" the item I am bidding on. This year my item of choice was a watch, a trendy one. I put my bid down...and didn't think about it for a while. When the auction was about to end I got serious and ended up winning my trendy watch...do you like???
We did not just have silent auction excitement...we had draw down excitement too. There were over 300 tickets sold for the spring fling and the last 5 numbers drawn won monetary prizes. Our ticket was the 7th from last one drawn. I thought Owen was going to have a heart attack from excitement. He thought we were going to win. We probably would have but when it reached top 10 they started taking bids from the crowd to add tickets so there were more numbers to choose from.
We may not have won the big money...but it was a fun night out!

He knows me too well
This story has made me laugh several times for the past two days so I thought I would write it down so I can remember it. But it is a lengthy story...
A week ago I put on my diamond earrings that Owen got me for our wedding. I wear them every day. He called me one day last week to tell me he found the back of the earring on our bed and to check my earrings. Sure enough I was missing the back of one of the earrings so I took both of them off and put them in my coin section of my wallet. When I went to get them out I could only find one earring. I am devastated beyond belief. I still haven't found it.
This Sunday I was wearing some pearl earrings that Owen got me for Valentines Day this year. While I was wearing them Andrew ripped one off my ear so I took both off and put them in pants pocket. This is my last memory of the event.
I washed clothes Sunday night. Monday I went to get earrings out of my drawer and couldn't find them. I thought I washed them. I looked in the pants pocket (I already washed and put up pants) but they were not in there. I hurried out of the bedroom to look in the washing machine - no luck. When I returned to the bedroom to finish getting ready, Andrew and Owen were in there also getting ready for the day. I decided I would keep the fact that I think I washed my earrings a secret b/c I really didn't want to have the conversation of how I have lost two pairs of sentimental earrings in less than a weeks time.
Apparently I looked miserable b/c this was our conversation:
O: "Is everything ok?"
E: mumbling "no-yes" version of an answer.
O: "What is wrong, do I need to take you to the hospital?"
E: "WHAT??? No, nothing that serious, I think I washed my earrings".
O: "What earrings?"
E: "The ones I was wearing yesterday" (I would not actually say which ones)
O: "Oh you mean the ones that are on the mantle?"
E: "um...yes...those would be the ones. I forgot I put them there"
This may not be funny to anyone else...but I have laughed several times at Owen asking me "do I need to take you to the hospital" b/c where in the world did that question come from???

Boys Weekend
This weekend, I was invited to enjoy a beach trip with some dear, dear friends. Owen said he could take care of the little man by himself so off I went for a 2 night, one day vacation. It was lovely really. The weather was nice. I relaxed, lounged, and took a nap on the beach with the ocean as my sound machine. On Sunday, I was ready to come home and see my boys. I woke up bright and early and hit the road so I could spend some of the weekend at home too.
I had no worries while I was gone, b/c Owen held down the fort perfectly. Thankfully he sent me a couple of pictures of the little man so I would could get sneak peaks of their weekend.
I love these pictures. Owen said Saturday was a no shoe day and possibly a no shirt day (for most it anyway)...definitely a daddy's weekend!
I am glad they had fun and it appears they missed me terribly :) I missed them too.

A Special Day
Happy St. Patrick's Day and a Happy Special Day to me! Most of you know that my family has special days...they are like birthdays (except on a smaller scale) but it is a day we picked ourselves. This was my brother's idea as a toddler and my mother grabbed onto the idea and it has stuck. So way back when I choose St. Patrick's Day mainly b/c of my name Erin and our Irish roots. The day started off with "Green Eggs and Ham" made by my hubby.
I should tell you Owen felt funny eating green eggs...he said something was wrong with that idea. I said, I loved it and will probably have orange eggs for Halloween and red ones for Valentines Day. In fact, this was the first time Andrew actually ate a scrambled egg. He usually spits it out. All around a successful morning.
Then I got the sweetest love from my baby boy before school. He definitely loves his momma :)
Dropping him off at school...another story. He is so comfortable with his day care that he doesn't even look back at me anymore. I carry him in, put him down and he is off. Even when I call his name to say bye and blow kisses. He just looks at me and keeps on playing. I really don't mind b/c I am glad he is having a good time there.
For lunch Owen picked me up from work and we went to a hibachi grill. I have been craving that for a while so it was a nice treat.
Tomorrow I am beach bound for a girls weekend. I am looking forward to relaxing in the sun, catching up on what is going with my friends, and staying up a little late because I can sleep in.
Hope you all had a nice and festive St. Patty's Day!!
Love Erin

I have no fun title for today
I can't believe I can't come up with one appropriate title for my post today - that is sad.
Here are some pictures of Andrew from the past couple of days. We are trying to get outside more since the weather has been nice. I can tell Andrew likes the change of scenery.
Andrew enjoying a "Popsicle"
"Mama, what is this?"
We took Andrew to our neighborhood park on Saturday. He was not sure of it at first, but then took charge and decided that walking up the slide was much more fun than going down.
Andrew and Brantley's first "date"...Brantley is now a big sister so Andrew decided he needed to pick her up for Mommy and Me so Brantley's mom could rest with baby sister. Andrew giggled all the way to class. He kept pointing at Brantley. It was the funniest thing I have seen in a while. The two of them were so cute. We will have another date with Brantley next Monday.
That is what we have been up to! Looking forward to St. Patrick's Day on Thursday.

"Ut Oh"
Andrew was a busy boy yesterday while I was cooking his dinner. He was so funny walking back and forth to the different sides of the kitchen and dining room. Ralphie was right there by his side. Here is a video of the "action". Please ignore the quality of the video...the lighting must have been off in our house.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

15 Months Old
Here we go...my baby is 15 months old! I can't believe he is so big now. Owen and I are loving every new stage with him.
He is so handsome (If I say so myself) :)
We had his 15 month Well Baby Check up on Friday. He is growing and is healthy.
Weight: 24 lbs and 12 oz (55%)
Height: 31 inches (50%)
Head circumference: 18 inches (80%)
Andrew is walking more than he is crawling. He took his first steps January 30th, but really walked on February 9, 2011. This weekend he learned he can crawl up on the couch - such a big boy!!
His vocabulary has blossomed. New words this month are: waffle, sock, snack, no, more, animal sounds, pull and tap (from a song he sings). Today he answered Owen's question "What do you want for breakfast?" Andrew's answer - waffle!
He can point to the ceiling, his nose, mouth, ears, eyes, and belly button. It was funny today at Mommy and Me. One of the moms was asking her son to show everyone his mouth and Andrew instead showed everyone his mouth. I am amazed at his ability to comprehend and understand language.
Here is Andrew at Mommy and Me today - this is during snack time.
Well that is my little man this month. I can't wait to see what he learns this upcoming month.

A Linky Party - If we were neighbors
If we were neighbors you would know that I write a blog and that it is set to private b/c that is a compromise I made with my husband. I see his point of view so I don't argue about it. So this linky party is for my close friends :)
If we were neighbors we would have an afternoon play date with our children. You would come over to my house because I want to show you my new china cabinet. I have been talking about this for a while now with you so I am happy you can come over and look at it. Owen and I searched for a year or so for it. We looked in New Orleans, Atlanta, Hattiesburg and ended up finding the perfect piece in Mobile, AL. It is an antique from France and it is around 100 years old. However we found a label in the buffet written in German. We are fascinated by this...
While we continued to chat about life our babies would be running circles around us. We would take pictures of their budding friendship and laugh at the stories we will tell when they are older. If they are doing something really cute and we take a picture of it, we would say that this picture will go in their senior slide show (b/c our babies will be in the same class at the same school - this has already been confirmed).
We also talk about looking for new houses and wanting to be in a place that we will be in forever. But then we would talk ourselves back into reality and tell ourselves that we are in our thirties and that most people don't have their dream home in their thirties - that it is a work in progress. Then I would tell you that I seem to always want but don't take the time to appreciate what I do have. And in the same breath I would tell you that I was reminded for the umpteenth time this past Sunday about letting God control my life and not me! The Gospel this past Sunday was about putting your stock, energy and love into God's Kingdom and not material things. This message had perfect timing. I get so wrapped up in life that I forget there is a bigger meaning to it all. Not only was the Gospel a perfect message but when I got in the car after church there was a song on the radio titled "In God's time"...So once again I am letting go and letting God!
After that deep conversation I offer you something to drink. We aren't drinking coffee b/c it is late in the day so we drink water instead. Our attention goes to the babies b/c they are hugging each other too tightly and tip over. We pick our own child up and comfort them from the fall. Once the babies are happy we talk about them. We wonder how they will be at being a big brother or big sister...b/c our mind again goes into the future.
We laugh with each other and we really talk to each other. These are moments that friendship books are written about. We feel lucky to have each other as neighbors. And as we are patting ourselves on the back Andrew is hungry for dinner and our play date is over...until the next week.
